  Hawk Weekly Update
Week of February 5, 2018

Principal's Message:
Good morning,
We hope you had a nice weekend. I’m sure many of you watched the Super Bowl.  It was a fun competitive game.
Our attendance has really taken a hit in January. We have fallen below 95%.  While we can’t control when students are out sick, we have to make a concerted effort to promote and encourage students to come to school every day so it doesn’t affect our school level rating at the end of the year.  Please continue to help us stay as healthy as possible by reminding your child to wash their hands frequently to stop the spread of germs.
Don’t forget that we will continue our CIWP planning with parents, staff and students this week. Our next session is this Wednesday, February 7th at 4:30 p.m. in room 118 in the Annex. We hope to see many of you join us at these meetings.  Parents and community members provide us feedback at these sessions so it’s important that your voice is heard as well to provide a balanced perspective.
Finally, over the next month we will be having visitors in the building starting this Thursday in the morning to see our Personalized Learning work. Interested in joining our visits? Please contact the office to sign up.

Updates for this week:
Attendance Rocks!
Congratulations to room 104 (95.24%) with the highest attendance for last week.  Classrooms will receive 5 Hawk Eyes!   Please remind students to come to school daily.  If you are seeing a pattern of students not attending school on a regular basis, please be sure to document your parent contact.  A number of students are out due to fevers, vomiting, and coughs.  Some students have a reported case of the flu.  Please remind students to wash their hands, use hand sanitizer if possible,  and cover their coughs.

Habit 5:  Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood ~ Listen Before You Talk
“I listen to other people’s ideas and feeling.  I try to see things from their viewpoints.  I listen to others without interruption.  I am confident in voicing my idea.  I look people in the eyes when talking.”
Be sure to review with your child this habit of success to support their social and emotional learning. Teachers are reviewing this 'Habit' during the morning meetings and throughout the day.
