2. Watch the movie Rio! The 2011 animated film Rio takes place in Brazil, where parts of the amazon rainforest are located. As you watch the film, write down the characters names. Pause and think of adjectives to describe the characters ("large, orange, pointed beak") and underline the adjectives. Ask your child to sound out the character's names or the animals. As you watch Rio, sing lines from the songs and find the rhyming words!
3. ONLINE SCAVENGER HUNT: Help your child research facts about the country of Brazil! Consider looking up the official languages, capital, main exports, national flag, foods, holidays, and more! Make a poster and compare/contrast this country with others!

If your child gets stuck on a CVC word, help by sounding it out, one sound at a time. When you finish reading, have your child tell you what the story was about!
2. Watch the movie Brave: The animated film Brave takes place in the Scottish hills! Look for landmarks and scenes in the movie that look like your Lexia level. Write down the characters' names while you watch the movie and then describe them with adjectives! When the movie is over, sequence the plot (beginning, middle, end).
