All of our Henry Hawk students had two very productive weeks of school and we are sure as parents you did as well. We will be sending out our Henry Hawk News weekly to support our communication with our families and community.
This Wednesday, September 18th, we are hosting ‘Curriculum Night’ from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It’s a great way for our Henry families to review what their children will be learning throughout the year. Session 1 begins at 5:00 p.m. and Session 2 begins at 5:45 p.m. Be sure to get a raffle ticket from your child's teacher for prizes for attending. Beginning of the Year Assessments: Questions? Recess: The LSC Approved our Henry Recess Temperature Guidelines last week: CPS guidelines: COLD WEATHER GUIDELINES » Above 32 degrees F with or without wind chill: Recess should be held outdoors. » Between 31 degrees F and 15 degrees F with or without wind chill: Principal discretion. » Below 15 degrees F with or without wind chill: Recess should be held indoors. Henry Guidelines : Grades PK-1: Recess outdoors between 32F to 30F with or without wind chill. Grades 2-5: Recess outdoors between 32F and 28F with or without wind chill. Grades 6-8: Recess outdoors between 32F and 25F with or without wind chill. Volunteering: Be sure to see our previous email regarding volunteering at Henry. Questions? Teachers and students are informed of the safety protocols. Questions, please ask your homeroom teacher. Edtech Tools: This year your child will be using different ed tech tools to support their learning. Lexia, Dreambox, IXl, RazKids, and Khan Academy are the main ed tech tools we will be using. The Summit Learning platform is used from 5th through 8th grades. Questions, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher. Climate and Culture: Our social and emotional learning curriculum is Second Step, Morning Meeting, Calm Classroom, and we are learning on how to implement Talking Circles. Be sure to ask your child about what they are learning during the SEL time.
